Customer Reviews
Dear Sirs,
My new shirt I bought from you is by far the best shirt I have ever bought. I will be buying them all from you in the future. I am only 31 so you will get plenty of mileage out of me! I have tried several companies in recent years since my ordination but I feel the cut, fabric and design if your shirts is superior to the rest of the market. It has to be about more than just price. Though I also think your product is priced very well. Many thanks,
Rev. Edward D Lyons, Penninghame Parish
I took your advice and ordered size 10. I am delighted with the shirts which fit beautifully and are so well-made. Fit on the shoulders, no enormous, baggy armholes, fitted enough to be able to tuck in if one wants without looking like a sack of potatoes, and a button for 6" wrists, perfect!

Many thanks for my shirts, really good quality and excellent fit, I am very pleased!
Many thanks.

Thank you for the blue shirt which arrived recently.
It is a lovely fit and feel - size 8 of anything rarely fits as well as this does.
Many thanks and when you can find other colours for women please let me know. I'll happily recommend your shirts to others.
Revd Shirley Danby
Dear Richard and Simon,
I am wearing your black shirts and I am fully satisfied. If in violins there is Stradivarius, in clerical shirts there is Butler & Butler.
Many thanks,
Padre Luciano - Tokyo
Dear Butler & Butler
I am thrilled with the shirts they fit beautifully, much better than tailor made ones I have had in the past. The cut is really good for a woman, the sleeve and body length is nice and generous and the neck is not too tight, and the fabric is lovely and soft.
Thank you so much for an excellent service and great product.

I was impressed by Butler & Butler's principles when I read about their venture, but (to be completely honest) I was initially sceptical. You may think I'm shallow, but I really like to look smart when I go to work, and most clergy gear makes you look like a rag bag. What hope would there be if it was fair trade as well?
Well. I stand corrected. This shirt is not only easy on the conscience, it is also undoubtedly the nicest clergy shirt I've ever worn. The fabric is 100% cotton, very soft and fine, not crispy or shiny like many clergy shirts, and the styling is - yes!! - quite simply a classic cut woman's business shirt. Not a semi-adapted baggy blokey shirt, nor a confection of dated frills or puffy sleeves or flowers. Just a really smart, well-fitting woman's shirt. Hooray. It comes in black, grey, white and two shades of blue. They are promising to add pink ones (allegedly for women), and tonsure collar shirts to the range very soon. Retailing at just under £29.35 it's fantastic value. What's not to like?
whenever I buy a cotton shirt, I shall definitely be buying it from Butler and Butler, as they are absolutely the best I've tried so far.
Revd Maggi Dawn – Chaplain Robinson College, Cambridge.
I have found a clergy shirt that fits.
What's that you say? Why should you care? Well, that means that you won't have to listen to me moan about them any more. And I won't be as grumpy in hot summer weather when I HATE HATE HATE that little bit of plastic.
Indeed, I've worn it all day without out once whipping out the white bit and unbuttoning the top when no one was looking.
Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah.
Now, for those who have reason to care: the shirt is from Butler & Butler. It's fair trade cotton. The neck is cut much more generously than the other companies which is both more comfortable and less ugly. It is shaped to fit a women rather than a bale of hay. Rejoice.

Dear Sir,
Just to let you know that my shirts arrived yesterday, wore the first one today and am really pleased with it.
Thank you,
Revd Fleur Green
I've got two of your black shirts - they are the best I've had: good weight, texture and fit.
Thanks.
Revd Iori Price
Well I received my shirt from butler and butler just a week ago now and I have to say that I am VERY impressed! After a bit of a disaster with another company whose shirts were just HUGE despite being made to measure (and yes I lost weight but not THAT much!) and the buttons will not stay closed despite the shirts being large on me even after I paid more to have them adjusted (cheap and nasty buttons) I was feeling doomed to always look like a man. However the shirts from Butler and butler fits will, it does not have huge shoulders and the cotton suprised me lots! Often fairly traded cotton is thin and would wear fast but this stuff is lovely cotton. It feels excellent in quality.
SO the shirt fits well, it's good quality both fabric and buttons and it is very affordable! I will be ordering some more! I'll add a pictures asap.

I am highly delighted with the two shirts I have purchased. They are generously cut and fit well and are comfortable to wear.
Good value!

Simon,
Just wanted to drop a quick line about the shirt that I received recently.
The quality of the material is very good, better than the ones that I had made up myself from material supplied through another company
Revd Tim Carter
Just to let you know that I am delighted with my recent order. The quality of the cotton is excellent, there is plenty of length in the sleeves and the fact that the waist is tapered, means that it is a very good fit for an off the peg shirt. I would prefer a little more length in the body (I am quite tall) but all in all am very happy and look forward to receiving the blue shirts when they come available in January.
Thank you
Revd Helen J Harrell
Dear Simon
Just a quick note to say thanks for the shirt, received today safely.
I am impressed with the attention to detail and standard of manufacture. Obviously I cannot comment on durability yet, but if the quality of materials is reflected in the workmanship then this should not be a problem.
